It is well-known that many foods have components which can prevent and battle cancer cells. But there are two superfoods that are readily available, delicious to munch on, and absolutely loaded with extracts that have been proven to aggressively fight cancer.

Which ones really stand out at the top? Grapes and blueberries! These small morsels help prevent, combat, and reduce your risk of many diseases.

Stop Cancer Cells in Their Tracks!

Grapes are extremely rich in resveratrol which is an antioxidant. The National Cancer Institute states that resveratrol may be excellent at “…keeping cancer from beginning or spreading.”

Studies have shown resveratrol actually limits malignant cell growth! This antioxidant has the potential to dive deep into the center of a cell’s nucleus and repair free radical damage which is believed can lead to cancer. Increasing your consumption of resveratrol, via grapes, can decrease your risk of many cancers such as:

  • Lung
  • Prostate
  • Pancreatic
  • Leukemia
  • Oral Epidermoid Carcinoma
  • Multiple Myeloma

Dr. Mercola, M.D. boasts the health benefits of grapes and other cancer-fighting fruits. He explains that resveratrol acts not only as an antioxidant but as an anti-inflammatory and it even has anti-carcinogenic properties. This really shows these small morsels really do pack a punch!

A recent study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry explained that researchers identified 10 new flavonoids in grapes that they previously had not been aware of. Their findings showed these newly discovered flavonoids far-succeeded resveratrol when fighting cancer!

There is no determined number of grapes that you should be eating at this time, but add some in with your daily servings of fruit and you’ll reap the healthy benefits.

The “Rock Star” of Fruit

Blueberries have something different. They contain anthocyanin’s which are phytochemicals giving them their beautiful blue hue and a healthy alkaline pH balance.

The American Institute for Cancer Research calls blueberries “rock stars” among fruit. They are packed with:

  • Vitamins C and K to support the immune system
  • Manganese for healthy bone development and to convert proteins, carbohydrates, and fats into energy
  • Dietary fiber for an overall healthy digestive system
  • Flavonoids to protect cells from oxidative damage
  • Resveratrol to prevent and fight disease

This leads them to be one of the highest antioxidant fruits available. By enjoying these delicious berries, you can decrease your risk of many cancers like:

  • Mouth
  • Esophagus
  • Lung
  • Stomach

Researchers at the University of Alabama have studied the link between nutrition and diseases and have determined that by enjoying one cup of scrumptious blueberries every day prevents cell damage caused by free radicals, which is believed to lead to cancer.
